Ode to the Museums of Old Town

Just imagine the unique opportunity to take a trip back into time and stroll through six museums in the Historic Old Town district. These beloved museums will allow you to get a true grasp of the art and culture in Albuquerque.

I recommend starting with my favorite museum. The Albuquerque Museum of Art and History. This museum will lavish you with art of the Southwest and the History of Albuquerque dating back 12,000 years when the Anasazi Indians settled in the area. This art museum features works of Albuquerque artisans, history exhibits, traveling exhibitions, a sculpture garden, gallery store and a casual cafe. This museum is a relaxing and educational experience for all.

National Atomic Museum.
THIS MUSEUM HAS MOVED
America's resource for nuclear science. This museum tells the story of the Atomic Age!
The National Atomic Museum is the nation's only congressional chartered museum of nuclear science and history. The museum was established in 1969 as an intriguing place to learn the story of the Atomic Age, from early research of nuclear development through today's peaceful uses of nuclear technology.

The Explora Museum is here too! A hands on museum full of wonders and mind charging exhibits. Features hands-on displays in science, technology and arts. Children and adults will be delighted with each exhibit project. One of my favorites is the bubble table. The most amusing display to me is the air born bike ride. I did not try it but it sure looked like a lot of fun!
